Two Weeks
I am here and surviving, but just barely. I have had so much help from my mom, mother-in-law and a hubby who is doing his best to shelter me from having to deal with all 4 kids at once. (When I say "having to deal" it makes it sound like having 4 kids is miserable, which it is not. But I'm not great at the juggling thing yet or whose request to fulfill first). I'm wondering how anyone survives 4 kids without the help of family around, I've been so lucky.
I can't help but feel like I have twins. Those of you with twins might feel differently, but I have two babies. One that cries when she wants to eat and one that cries when she wants to eat and can walk. I just feed them differently. My worst nightmare is when they both want to eat at the same time. . . oh thank goodness for help.
I've had two surreal moments. I was driving back from the airport with my four kids in the car. I looked in my rear view mirror (checking out my kids all in car seats) as I changed lanes into the carpool lane with this huge grin on my face thinking "I so deserve this lane".
The second surreal moment came during our first family home evening with all four kids. A moment of true craziness, satisfaction, and joy. Ben and I kept looking at each other like, "wow, did we do this?"

oh shara i am glad you have help and that you are giving yourself some slack... any new baby or change needs a lot of time to become normal.
you kids are so cute. i feel like one day you had wiley and then we all blinked and you had three little girls too. it goes so fast.
good luck with both those babies. and the two big kids.
are you going to reno for the fourth of july?... probably not but it would be so nice to see you.
muchlove.
you are too gorgeous in that day 1 photo - seriously NOT fair :) i loved this post - i loved going from the 4 digit #s (wiley & rosie) to 425 with eva :) and little hazel is such a cutie!!! you guys did good :) even though we only have 1 right now, i know the feeling of looking back and seeing the carseat ... pretty surreal sometimes :) please let me know if there's something i can do for you!
All your handiworks are very good looking.
And you certainly do deserve the HOV lane.
You look great on day 1 at the hospital. Wow a family of 6!! That is a LOT, but you are super woman if I have ever met one. You can do it!
having your kids in the car does not constitute using the carpool lane. It is not as if they would drive themselves. The definition is:
an arrangement among a group of automobile owners by which each owner in turn drives the others or their children to and from a designated place.
Your children do not own an automobile.
Have I told you that I love the name Hazel. It's so beautiful. And I love your pictures. Are you doing your own photography? Wow. Love them. By the way hilarious comment from anonymous, is there really someone out there hunting out car pool deficiencies and correcting the problem? Wow. You need a real job!
Twins? No, I think having two kids that close in age is much harder than having twins. At least twins eat the same thing at the same time, and sleep at the same time...honey, I'm praying for you.
Love this post! I agree that you do look beautiful in the family shot. Perhaps that is because you showered and blowed your hair dry before heading into the hospital. Oh yeah, and you pushed once. Way to go! You are a beautiful family.
Your new addition is so CUTE! Congrats and good luck! Oh, and the "anonymous" comment person can suck it! You deserve HOV like any good mom does!
I feel like I am reading my own thoughts! Your kids are adorable!
XOXO! I love this post. Its so fun. Also. I miss you here. Wish you were across the sea with me.
