We are home.

Thank you to all you well wishers.

I finally got to check the blog again, only to find that Ben had blogged about the birth already. I laughed my head off. That story will do for now. I'm not sure I want to add much to it nor could I tell the story any better than he already did. I did want to add that I think it is every girls dream to actually deliver early. I feel extremely lucky I got to cut 9 days off the torturous waiting game.

I do need to make a clarification.

Her name is Eva Sophia. "Eva" meaning Eve in German.
The pronunciation is also German and is "A-va" Think long A (not long E).

The name Sophia also comes from the same German line and fits nicely together with Eva.

More on the story of the names later.

We struggled with the idea of actually spelling her name Ava, (like it is pronounced) but in the end the German spelling and pronunciation stands.

Congrats guys! We are so happy- and loved reading Ben's take on the previous post. Aaron was laughing out loud as I read it.

I like the Eva with an 'E' as well. She will have a head start by knowing the German alphabet...at least one letter.

Eve and all of its derivatives have always been a favorite of mine.

By the way, she does not look at all like she was delivered by forceps. My parents tell horror stories of how I looked after my forcep assisted birth. Little Eva with the German Pronunciation looks perfect. She is beautiful.

Congratulations!! I love the name you chose (the spelling and the pronunciation). It was great to read about the birth from Ben's perspective. Eva should enjoy reading that when she gets older.

Yay for you! What a lovely and precious child who actually looked cute from the beginning (mine looked like grumpy old men). I'm a name purist myself (Lleida which is pronounced Jada except with a zsa sound). It's all good
